I'm back

Brooke

I've missed this blog! But my mental health mandated a break, so I complied. I've been inactive here for several reasons...

  1. In December of last year, my dad's Parkinson's basically went from stage 1 to stage 4 in a matter of weeks. As one of the local family members, this required all available time to be spent supporting him and my mom. This struggle ended on February 15th when he died. It was about the most peaceful & loving way for him to go.

  2. During this time, I stayed in school. One of the last things my dad said to me was "you've gotta finish" when I told him that I only had 1 more class. He was my biggest cheerleader. I'm happy to say that I completed my Master's degree in May!

  3. The pandemic. I don't think anything else needs to be said.

I'll be honest, the last 12 months have been the hardest in my life.

On September 29th, it was the 1 year anniversary of Cheryl's suicide. I did okay, but the night was especially hard because that was when we tried to get to her. But it was therapeutic to commiserate and reminisce with friends.

So I've decided to get back to this blog! I've had a few people reach out to me about how much it has helped them in the past. And really, in a pandemic during an election year I think we all need some extra support and love.

I realize I'm publishing this on a non-Monday. But Monday will resume the topic-based posts that I sincerely hope will help.
